I've Tried
Everything...

And NOTHING has worked!
HELP!!

-
I wholeheartedly recommend Jay with hANS PT. I have been suffering from intense jaw pain and all that goes with it for years. I've seen several doctors and physical therapists, a few dentists, tried a couple splints, surgery, and pain killers and muscle relaxers- but still was in pain 100% of every day until I met Jay. Every session with him is extremely helpful, informational, healing, and holistic. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Clinical Commentary: When a patient has seen multiple specialists without relief, the issue is usually a lack of 'Total Systems' integration. Kate’s recovery highlights our holistic orthopedic approach, which bridges the gap between traditional dentistry and specialized manual medicine."

The Night Guard Nightmare:

What Dental Splint is the Right One?

-
I've been on my own internet and webMD search off/on for the past 8 years for my TMJ, tinnitus and neck tightness. My dentist had sent me to a Denver TMJ dentist that charged me $5000 or for a splint that didn't work and actually made my bite and issue worse. I was concerned my nighttime clenching and pain would never resolve and that the disc in my jaw would never improve or relocate or whatever it needed to do. I saw these reviews and was skeptical at first. But Dr Jay really did help me resolve it. He offered me insights and changes that no one had ever brought to my attention before. Everything is (finally!) pretty much gone now. I just notice in really quiet rooms occasionally some slight ear ringing. But it was constant before. I'm relieved to have found a solution and wish my dentist had recommended him from the beginning!
Thank you again

Clinical Commentary: "Matt’s case is a textbook example of why 'splint therapy' often fails when it ignores the underlying neurological clenching behaviors. By focusing on disc relocation and down-regulation, we solved a problem a $5,000 piece of plastic actually made worse."

Interminable Tinnitus

Somebody please make my
ear issue STOP already!

Jay was great to work with and helped my jaw and ear problems tremendously. My jaw pain / tenderness has decreased by around 90% and my ear problems (tinnitus and hyperacusis) have also seen a noticeable decrease. I feel like I can finally work again after having to quit my job due to noise sensitivity. I would recommend that anyone should go to Jay first before getting any expensive or invasive procedures done, since physical therapy is way easier, safer, and cheaper.

Clinical Commentary: "Sophia’s case of hyperacusis (noise sensitivity) is frequently misdiagnosed. By treating the muscular and joint tension in the upper cervical and TMJ regions, we can reduce the secondary stress on the auditory system, often preventing the need for more invasive interventions."

Jay's knowledge exceeds any Physical Therapist I have ever worked with. I was referred to him for pain in my jaw that resulted in a severe toothache. Multiple visits with my dentist did not help and it was not until I was referred to Jay that I had relief from the pain. After my first treatment, I immediately noticed a positive change in the level of pain I was experiencing. After my third visit, I had no pain whatsoever. Jay's excellent training and his ability to listen and diagnose goes beyond anything I ever expected. He also offers techniques for at home implementation that support the practices he uses. I have recommended him to my family, my friends, and my dentist. I'd like to recommend him to you for any of your physical therapy needs.

Clinical Commentary: "What Jane thought was a dental emergency was actually referred pain from the masseter muscles. Identifying these 'masked' toothaches is a cornerstone of our diagnostic process, often saving patients from unnecessary dental procedures"

My experience with hANS Physical Therapy greatly exceeded my expectations!! I had been suffering from jaw pain for years, and tried so many different treatments...mouth guards, exercises, therapies in my dentist's office, etc. But after my treatments with Jay, I am pain-free for the first time, and have been for months now....I'm thrilled! I feel that I fully understand where my issues came from, and got a clear plan of how to keep them from returning. And the appointments were always so pleasant; I always felt very comfortable. My highest possible recommendation!!

Clinical Commentary: Chronic TMJ issues require more than just exercises; they require a change in the 'pain processing' of the brain. Jason’s long-term success stems from our focus on Root Cause Resolution—ensuring the mechanical improvements we make are supported by optimized daily behaviors

The "Mother & Migraine" Story
Years of Debilitating Headaches

Jay has quite literally given me my life back. After nearly ten years of suffering migraines, jaw, and neck pain I am finally getting some real relief. I have seen three different prominent TMJ dentists around the country with various splint therapies, two other physical therapists, several neurologists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and nothing worked. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to fix my pain. Jay has so many different techniques and helpful suggestions. I always leave appointments feeling significantly better. His treatment is incredibly effective and not a huge money or time commitment. His goal is to get you back to doing the things you love as quickly as possible. I cannot recommend him highly enough. We are so lucky to have him in the Denver area. Before beginning treatment with Hans Physical Therapy I was experiencing unrelenting migraines while caring for a newborn baby. After some weeks of seeing Jay and following the program, I am seeing great improvement. I’m able to be the mother and person that I want to be. Thank you, Jay, for helping me to truly enjoy my life again.

Clinical Commentary: "Alison’s case illustrates the intersection of mechanical TMJ dysfunction and neurological migraine triggers. When the body is under the stress of new parenthood, the nervous system becomes 'sensitized.' By using specialized manual techniques to down-regulate that system, we can provide relief for chronic migraines that even neurologists often fail to resolve."

The "Total Systems" Clinical Philosophy
At the TMJ Institute of Colorado, we believe that chronic jaw and neck pain are rarely isolated issues; they are expressions of a 'Total System' in distress. My philosophy is rooted in the intersection of Pain Neuroscience and Orthopedic Manual Medicine.
Instead of managing symptoms with temporary fixes like splints or night guards—which can inadvertently increase muscle activity—we focus on down-regulating the nervous system and restoring the precise mechanics of the craniofacial region. By integrating 30 years of clinical mastery with advanced interventions like Advanced Orofacial Dry Needling, we don't just help you escape the 'failed treatment loop'—we provide the education and structural stability your body needs to stay pain-free for a lifetime".
